THE KDA

KeCrypt is currently developing a unique USB device specifically designed for signature authorisation in critical business workflow processes.  This will be major news for corporations struggling with ever more complex authorisations and relying on passwords, PINs or network log-ins to verify authorised signatories.

THE WORLD'S FIRST DIGITAL AUTHORISER

As everyone who’s involved in workflow applications knows, the one thing they rarely do is flow.  Authorisations and transactions stutter as applications have to be logged out of, and the required authoriser log-in, find the required record and approve; thus confusing network access with workflow.

The situation with critical workflow processes, where legal intent is required to be demonstrated, is even more worrying.  Often approval is simply a case of knowing a password or PIN, knowledge that may be written down or given away as a matter of convenience.

So when things get important, it’s real paper and real signatures that get used.  Invariably, this means a face-to-face meeting, an archive process, and a hope that some sort of recall of this legal data could be achieved in the future.

But that requirement will soon be just a bad memory as KeCrypt’s unique plug-in KDA – or digital authoriser – will enable any approved person to sign off a process from any desktop or laptop PC anywhere in the world.

Just Sign & Go

When a workflow signature is required, the KDA owner simply plugs it in, signs off the process – and goes. The application knows they are required to authorise and KeCrypt’s dynamic signature verification ensures the person signing their KDA is the right authoriser, rather than relying on the identification of the user logged in to the network.

Workflow authorisations can operate remotely, 100% secure in the knowledge that it was the right person who authorised the transaction or signed-off the particular process.

Multiple signatories can use the same KDA in a contract signing ceremony; all demonstrating legal intent; all taking part in the same workflow session.

The KDA – the essential business tool

Many organisations are not only looking at the KDA and KeCrypt’s signature products for authorisation, but also want it for application and portal access where PCs are locked down from device plug-in.

KeCrypt is working with these businesses to enhance the KDA to have additional functionality as a ‘two factor’ authentication device.  In this form, the KDA releases ‘one time transaction’ codes to be used in web-based applications.

Secure authorisation – anytime, from anywhere.

The ability to obtain a secure, instant authorisation will not only speed up internal critical workflow, but also provide a new level of secure service for on-line banking, funds transfers, identifying customers at branch level, and ultimately retail point of sale.

Valuable savings will be made in reducing paperwork and organising signing meetings.  No matter where in the world colleagues may be, authorising even complex transactions will only require them to plug in their KDA and sign.

Neat, stylish and pocketable, the KDA, designed to work with KeCrypt signature verification products, provides the most secure and socially acceptable form of biometric verification – the signature - in a complete package and integration ready.  It’s natural, indisputable and demonstrates a legal intention to authorise an action.

The ability to just sign and go will finally make workflow flow.

More about the KDA

External tablet devices are available for desktop and laptop PCs that can be used for dynamic signature capture; but not specifically designed for business users signing in a workflow or transaction process.  The KDA is the product of KeCrypt’s strategy to build around user needs.

The KDA will be unlike conventional signing devices by providing the same user feedback of the signature as gained with KeCrypt’s signature verification products on Tablet PCs and PDAs.  Verification of the dynamic signature biometric will be undertaken by KeSignature, KeCrypt’s signature verification product.  Where the KDA is used as a standalone ‘two factor’ authentication device then KeSignature will be embedded in the KDA.

The advantages of KeSignature are:

  • The signature dynamics analysed make it impossible to forge
  • No image templates are stored making it secure and non-reversible
  • The analysis is totally language independent making it a global solution
